The Challenge

Secret Visions Productions, an independent film company in Los Angeles, sought to create publicity for its film, “Smashing Stereotypes.” It further sought to have the film considered for a variety of awards. The film was based on various stereotypes a Korean encounters upon moving to the United States and is based on a true story.

The Solution

Strategic Vision PR Group conducted a branding and PR campaign that encompassed the following:

  1. Media relations
  2. Branding
  3. Awards services

The Results

Strategic Vision PR Group conducted an extensive media campaign that obtained coverage for the star of the film, Josiah Lee, and its director, Kitania Kavey. Utilizing its media contacts, the agency secured coverage for the film, its star, and its director in The Village Voice, CNN Radio, Voice of America, KABC-TV, “Good Morning San Diego” and in more than 100 radio and print outlets in the United States.

All press material and advertising was built around the brand of Secret Visions Productions. The agency also developed a mission statement, logo, and message for the company.

The agency made sure “Smashing Stereotypes” was entered for all the awards it qualified for and made sure it received media coverage for each award the film won.  As a result of the agency’s efforts, “Smashing Stereotypes” was the official selection of the SoCal Independent Film Festival, the Dixie Film Festival, the E2 Ethics of Entertainment Film Festival, the Alameda International Film Festival, the Hollywood Digital Film Festival, the Sport Movies & TV India Ficts Festival and the San Fernando Valley International Film Festival, and it was in the top 20 for the Boston Motion Picture Awards.
